About Us
We watch over the 35,000+ acres of Jefferson and Monroe Districts covering the towns of Swisher and Shueyville; we support the Eastern Iowa airport and any traveler on I380. All the while looking over Ag, Residential, Commercial and Industrial structures. We also watch over vast areas of wild land and the Hawkeye wildlife preserve in our backyard.
History
Jefferson Monroe Fire department began its life as a non-profit volunteer organization in 1946. It was originally located in downtown Swisher, IA on Rose Ave in the Murk-N-T building.
The Firehouse was moved in 2003 to 2559 120th St SW. Here’s a scrap book that documented the build and transition.
